Hi, I'm Ben Small, your local Liberal for Forrest.
Growing up in Bunbury, I fell in love with the sea, spending my childhood on Koombana Bay. This passion led me to a fulfilling career in the maritime oil & gas sector, eventually overseeing marine services for a global energy company.
Raised in a typical Australian family, I learned early the importance of hard work and giving back through volunteering. My commitment to our community saw me serve as a volunteer ambulance officer for 10 years and as WA’s youngest rescue skipper with Bunbury Sea Rescue.
Driven by the dream of running my own business, I opened Small’s Bar in Eaton in 2017. It's more than just a bar; it's a celebration of the South West's incredible produce, providing meaningful employment to 30 people, including those overcoming disabilities. This experience has taught me the true value of work and inclusion.
My local plan for Forrest includes championing critical upgrades for Busselton airport, boosting tourism and export opportunities for local businesses and farmers, long-overdue upgrades to local roads, and real action to ease the strain on our local housing market, meaning more homes available for local people.
I’m also committed to safeguarding the South West’s stunning coastline against Labor’s proposed offshore wind farm, ensuring our Geographe Bay isn't overshadowed by towering turbines.
I'm committed to Forrest because I'm from here, I understand our challenges, and I'm ready to use my national experience as a former Senator for WA to fight for our community.
With a focus on practical solutions, let’s work together to make our community even better.
